Franchise Questions Answered

Not everyone should buy a franchise—and that's okay. The right business should align with your goals, lifestyle, financial situation, and long-term vision. My job isn't to convince you to become a franchise owner. It's to help you determine whether franchising is the right path for you. Sometimes the best decision is "not yet" or even "no," and that's just as valuable as finding the perfect opportunity.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Franchise investments can range from under $100,000 to well over $1 million, depending on the industry and business model. Beyond the initial investment, it's important to plan for working capital and personal living expenses during the startup period. Together, we'll identify opportunities that fit your financial comfort zone and discuss financing options when appropriate.

Sometimes—yes. Many franchise models are designed for semi-absentee ownership, allowing owners to keep their current careers while building a business with a management team in place. Other franchises require hands-on involvement, especially in the early stages. Finding the right fit depends on your goals, schedule, and desired level of involvement.

A franchise isn't "good" simply because it's popular or growing quickly. A good investment is one that aligns with your goals, risk tolerance, financial expectations, and lifestyle. That's why we carefully review the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), speak with existing franchisees, evaluate the leadership team, and perform thorough due diligence before you make a decision. The best franchise isn't the one everyone else is buying. It's the one that's right for you.

When you buy an independent business, you're responsible for creating your own systems, marketing, and operational processes. A franchise provides an established brand, established systems, training, and ongoing support. While every business requires hard work, franchising allows you to start with a proven model instead of building everything from scratch.

Most people benefit from exploring two or three carefully selected opportunities rather than dozens of brands. Comparing a small number of businesses makes it easier to identify the differences, ask thoughtful questions, and determine which opportunity truly aligns with your goals. More options don't always lead to better decisions—better evaluation does.

Franchisee validation is one of the most valuable parts of the discovery process. Ask about their daily responsibilities, financial performance, training and support, challenges, work-life balance, and whether they would invest in the franchise again. Honest conversations with current owners often provide insights you won't find anywhere else.

Discovery Day isn't a sales presentation—it's an opportunity for both you and the franchisor to determine whether you're a good fit for one another. You'll meet the leadership team, learn more about the company's culture and support systems, ask in-depth questions, and gain a clearer understanding of what ownership would look like. You should leave feeling informed—not pressured.

Once you've selected the right opportunity, you'll complete the franchise agreement, finalize financing if needed, and begin preparing for ownership. The franchisor will guide you through onboarding, training, site selection (if applicable), and opening your business. I'll continue to support you throughout the process, helping you navigate each milestone with confidence.
